Graham Bell was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on March 3, 1847. Alexander was a bright boy. As a young child, he was taught at home by his father and then he attended the Royal High School, Edinburgh. He loved to study the sciences, especially biology. He began his career as a teacher of deaf children and worked at the Boston School for Deaf Mutes. Alexander Bell continued to educate deaf people throughout his life. In the 1870s, Bell began to work on the telephone with Thomas Augustus Watson. On March 10, 1876, Bell made the first successful test of the telephone. He spoke a few words to Watson, beginning with “Mr. Watson, come here.” Alexander Graham Bell died on August 2, 1922.
